Dr. Weng’s Recent Trip To Rome
UEWM Dean of College of Tai Chi ,Dr. Chi-hsiu D Weng recently led a Chinese Shuaijiao (Shuai-chiao)Team attending the 2014 Europe-Rome World Shuaijiao Tournament in Rome 5-16-5/18(Photo#1 & #2).
Out of 17 teams Team USA captured First Place with 3 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 bronze medals. The tournament results: 1st USA, 2nd Italy,3rd France, 4th China, 5th Israel, and 6th Chinese Taipei (Photo #3 and #4). As the President of the Pan-American Shuai-chiao Federation Dr. Weng also addressed at the 2014 International Forum on the World Development and Promotion of Shuaijiao 5-15 in Rome. The forum was participated by representatives from 17 countries and chaired by Deputy Secretary of National Wrestling Association of China, Mr.Pang Gaoxing(photo #5). Dr. Weng will be co-chairing with President of Brazilian Shuai-chiao Association ,Li Wing-kay for the next World Shuaijiao Tournament in Sao Paulo Brazil 10-19-14.
At the local scale, coached by Dr.Weng, University of East-West Medicine Tai Chi Club has participated two events in this Spring Semester: 1) 2014 Chinese Martial Tournament 3-15-14 , UC Berkeley: UEWM Team placed 2nd (photo #6); 2) Tiger Claw Elite Kungfu Championship 5-17-14, San Jose Convention center: UEWM Team placed 3rd and individual competitor Ian Christian Sy captured 2nd.
The Tai Chi Club at UEWM meets every Tuesday and Friday morning 8:30am -9:30am. It is open to community and is planning to conduct series of research projects such as : Effective of Cardio Tai-chi Training on Different Age Groups and Therapeutic Tai-chi for People with Health Issues.
