UEWM is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. The University of East-West Medicine welcomes foreign\u2013student applications and is very fortunate to have many students from around the world joining our Master’s degree Program. We are committed to expanding our international student-body population and to providing full support to all students in order to ensure a smooth and rewarding academic journey for all. UEWM accepts foreign students and is approved under the Department of Homeland Security to enroll non-immigrant alien students.<\/p>\n

UEWM is authorized to issue a Certificate of Eligibility, Form I-20 for F-1 (Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine). Foreign students must submit the following to verify that they have adequate resources to pay for their living expenses (tuition, food, lodging, books, travel, and incidentals) for the length of the program: 1) a signed Financial Certification Form from UEWM, 2) a Certificate of Account Balance from their (or, if applicable, their parents’ or their spouse’s) bank account, showing a minimum of $15,000 on deposit in U.S.-d ollar equivalents, or a notarized I-134 form (Affidavit of Support issued by the U.S. Immigration Office). Upon the receipt of their acceptance letter and other required legal documents, a student I-20 visa can be issued.<\/p>\n

Foreign students must submit their official transcript(s). Non-English transcripts must be accompanied by an official translation, and all foreign transcripts must be evaluated for degree, course by course and GPA by an U.S. based official evaluation organization that is NACES Certified. A list of current NACES members is available at\u00a0http:\/\/www.naces.org\/members.html<\/u>.<\/a><\/p>\n

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS for ALL PROGRAMS:\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

International Applicant\/Student<\/b><\/p>\n

An individual who:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(1) is not a citizen or national of, or lawfully admitted for permanent residence in, the United States;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(2) does not provide evidence from the Immigration and Naturalization Service that he or she is in the United States for other than temporary purposes with the intention of becoming a citizen of, or lawfully admitted for permanent residence in, the United States; and\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(3) is not lawfully admitted for permanent residence in American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands.<\/span><\/p>\n

US Citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents <\/b>whose native language is not English\u00a0 and prior education was not conducted in English,<\/span> an English proficiency Evaluation conducted by the University of East-West Medicine<\/span> is required to enter all programs at UEWM.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

International Applicants<\/b> whose native language is not English are required to provide proof of English proficiency for admission to degree, certificate, and non-degree graduate programs. This must be demonstrated by one of the following means:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.The applicant must have completed one of the following *:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. four years at a U.S. high school demonstrably delivered in English;<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. at least two-years (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) of undergraduate-or graduate-level education in an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education;<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. at least two-years (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) of undergraduate-or graduate-level education demonstrably delivered in English;<\/span><\/li>\n
