The goal of the World Center for Health was to promote Traditional Chinese Medicine as a respected and useful medical field in which techniques, research, and patient management are based upon the theories of Yin-Yang, the Five Transformative Phases, Qi Circulation, the Meridian System (Channels and Collaterals), and the Organ Systems (Viscera\/Zang-fu).<\/li>\n<li>In March of 1994, Dr. Ying Qiu Wang organized the International Institute for Health and Healing in Sunnyvale, California, which was the cornerstone for the development of the University of East-West Medicine. The Institute combined Eastern Traditional Chinese Medicine with Western medical sciences, creating the &#8220;Vital Core Medical System,&#8221; which was based upon 30 years of clinical practice and research by President Wang.<\/li>\n<li>In October of 1997, the University of East-West Medicine (UEWM) was founded in Sunnyvale, California.<\/li>\n<li>In 2000, the University&#8217;s Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM) was approved by the California Acupuncture Board. Students who completed the MSTCM program at the University of East-West Medicine became eligible to take the California Licensing Exam.<\/li>\n<li>In June of 2003, the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) granted the University candidate accreditation status. The University became the first TCM program in Silicon Valley to be recognized by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), which allows the University of East-West Medicine&#8217;s students to take the national certificate exams. The University was also approved by both BPPVE and ACAOM to open our new and innovative three level Massage Programs.<\/li>\n<li>In 2003 the University of East-West Medicine was approved by the Department of Homeland Security to oversee and approve foreign students attending the UEWM&#8217;s MSTCM program by issuing the I-20 Visa.<\/li>\n<li>In October 2005, the US Department of Education granted the University the right to administer Title 4 funding. Under the Higher Education Act of 1965, the University is able to help students receive Federal Student Aid, thus allowing students that might not be able to afford to attend the University the opportunity to succeed. The University&#8217;s goal is to serve society and to educate people in the Eastern and Western medical fields.<\/li>\n<li>2005 University granted full accreditation in October.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/uewm.edu\/img\/aboutus.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element vc_custom_1774588406974\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>In 2019, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wfih.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Federation of Integrative Medicine<\/a> and University of East-West Medicine successfully hosted the 4th International Integrative Medicine Conference at UEWM and Stanford.<\/li>\n<li>In 2021, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wfih.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Federation of Integrative Medicine<\/a> and University of East-West Medicine successfully hosted the 5th World Conference on Integrative Medicine online.The theme of this conference is &#8220;Medicines from all walks of life toward global health&#8221;, aiming to gather the strengths of global integrated medicine and medical science to build a more robust and extensive world of medical technology, arts, culture, science.
